The Cranbrook Bucks have announced a commitment with veteran forward Matt Duarte for the 2022-23 season.

Duarte, who turns 20 in September, has spent much of his young career playing in his hometown of Hamilton, ON. He spent the past two years playing Junior B for the Hamilton Kilty B’s of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Last season, Duarte finished the regular season scoring 21 times and adding 38 helpers for 59 points in 46 games played. Those totals ranked him third on the Kilty B’s in goals, and second on the team in assists and points. The power forward also amassed 68 penalty minutes, which was tied for the most among his teammates last year.

Duarte was once again among the top-five of his team’s offensive leaders during the playoffs, as Hamilton made a run to the GOJHL conference finals this past spring. He scored three goals and added nine assists for 12 points through 17 postseason contests.
